Recessed Chamber Filter Press ErtelAlsop’s dewatering filter presses, our EA Series, are among the most efficient means of liquid-solid separation through pressure filtration, either for solution filtration or sludge volume reduction. They provide a simple reliable method of high compaction pressure to compress and dewater solids into filter cakes of 25-60% total concentration. This provides clearer filtrate solutions than other filter press systems that only remove free water. Our slide heads ride on full size roller and bearing assemblies, and our closure systems incorporate the very latest in hydraulics and control technology. Our EA Series filter press framework also carries an unprecedented and unconditional six year warranty. Various filter press options are available, and detailed Operation and Maintenance manuals are supplied with each filter press. To determine the correct size unit for your application, use our filter press sizer. Parts and Filter Cloth are also available. EA-Series heavy duty recessed chamber filter presses, and our membrane squeeze filter press line can be manufactured in 100 PSI or 225 PSI design ratings.
Our filter presses range in size from 470 mm through 1500 mm with capacities up to 350 cubic feet or more. Our filter press options include t-slotted sidebars, automatic plate shifters, cloth washers, bombay drip trays, carbon steel manifolds, light curtains, and fast-acting hydraulic systems, with manual, semi-automatic, and fully automatic PLC and/or DCS controls. ErtelAlsop's filter press systems can be utilized in many applications and markets. For example, in wastewater and dewatering applications, such as metal hydroxides and alum sludges, the slurries of wastewater are pumped through the chambers of the filter press, which is known as a slow fill. The filtrate passes through the filter cloth and the solids are retained between the recessed chambers. As additional solids are pumped into the chamber, solids continue to collect until the entire chamber is full, in turn, raising the differential pressure. This process of dewatering the solids is what forms our 32mm filter cake. At this point the press is opened and the filter cake drops. The filter press is then cleaned, if needed, and the process repeated. In terms of beer or wine, filtration may be for haze removal and clarity. Here you would pump the beverage through a filter media like diatomaceous earth or cellulose filter aid. Here the retained solids are not important. It is the clarity of the filtrate that justifies the use of a filter press. The filter press can also produces a recoverable solid such as dyestuff, or precious metals as in the Merrill-Crow Process, or may be used with the intent of reducing waste volume. In hazardous material applications, reducing the volume of waste is critical. A liquid slurry of hazardous metal hydroxide waste may be reduced from 40 drums of 1% solids to one drum of 40% solids. Such an improvement may economically justify the filter press in less than one month.

Standard Filter Press Sizes The EA Series Line of filter presses are available for solids handling ranging from 1 ft³, 2ft³, 3 ft³ all the way to 350 ft³. Thirty-two (32mm) millimeter gasketed polypropylene filter plates are standard on all models, making these heavy-duty filter presses well suited for applications, which require leak-free processing. Other standard features include an chemically resistant painted steel skeleton, 304 stainless steel bar wear strips, schedule 80 PVC head connections, four corner discharge, hydraulic closure system, and a full 6 year framework warranty. |
EA 102 & EA 203![]() EA Series Laboratory Filter Press provides a simple reliable method of high compaction pressure to compress and dewater solids concentration. This series of filters is designed for the laboratory, new product and process development, testing, scale-up and small volume production of products. Cloth or paper changeover can be accomplished easily and in a minimum of time. Even more versatility can result from the use of dividing heads to provide double or even triple serial filtration in a single pass. This small but powerful filter presses are also equipped with a 5 ton hand hydraulic jack as a standard feature!. EA 470 and EA 630 EA 800 and EA 1000
EA 1200 and EA 1500 Ideal for processes that require 50-300 cubic feet of solids handling. These heavy-duty presses are suited for applications where leak-free processing is required. Filter cloth is available for any application.
