Lenticular Filter Cartridges (Pak®) |
Product Summary |
In 1942 one of our engineers
met with a customer in a parking lot
and presented him with the very first stacked disc lenticular filter
cartridge, the Disc-PakŪ. The customer had requested a filtration
system, which was enclosed and would allow for a fast change out when
the filter became plugged, in order to minimize exposure to the operators.
The original construction was somewhat primitive, but the concept
has been continuously
improved with available technology. ErtelAlsop PakŪ filters are made
with our high quality filter media, polypropylene, and stainless steel.
This makes them compatible with most products and applications within
the pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, electric utility and food
& beverage industries.

Pharmaceutical Grade Filter Media
ErtelAlsop's "P" grade media is manufactured in
accordance with our Drug Master File located at the US Food and Drug
Administration Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), providing the
confidence you require when using ErtelAlsop Zeta-Pak® elements in your
critical Pharmaceutical or Biotech applications. All Pharmaceutical grade
Zeta-Pak® filter cartridges are supplied with a "P" certificate which
states that the cartridges contained in that box conform with the information
provided in our Validation
Guide.
Our Pharma-PakŪ housing is available for critical applications where maintaining
the integrity of the process is of the utmost importance.
Compatible Components
Pak® elements use cellulose/filter aid media,
polypropylene, stainless steel, and appropriate elastomers, which allow for
excellent product compatibility. ErtelAlsop also offers the Pak® with
polypropylene filter media, if cellulose or filter aid are not compatible with
your product.
Highly Efficient Particle Retention
All Pak® cartridges utilize ErtelAlsop depth filter
media, which provides a wide range of particle retention with high solids
loading capacity. Media is available in various formulations, including 100%
cellulose, cellulose with filter aid and cellulose with activated carbon and filter aid.
Nominal retentions range from 0.25 to 15 microns at 98% efficiency when using a
uniform solid particle in water. The complex matrix of fibers and particles of
filter aid create a structure which allows for greater concentration of
particles than most surface retention filter media. All ErtelAlsop filter media
with filter aid and/or carbon exhibits a positive Zeta-Potential over a wide pH
range. This allows for the removal of negatively charged particles smaller than
the pore size of the filter media, providing additional solids loading
capacity.

Zeta-Pak®
The Zeta-PakŪ, ErtelAlsop's depth filter cartridge for pharmaceutical processing provides relatively high flow rate, positive electrical charge and superior retention of ultrafine particles. From the downstream processing of biopharmaceuticals, human plasma fractionation and the bulk filtration of culture media to LVPs, SVPs, topicals and intermediates filtration, our Zeta-PakŪ will provide the result your application requires.

ZetaDri-Pak®
The ZetaDri-PakŪ offers all the benefits of depth filtration plus
the ability to capture free and emulsified water from your product.
This 50 year old ErtelAlsop invention allows for easy changeout,
low labor costs and optimized filtration area and cake space. Our
16 cell ZetaDri-PakŪ holds a minimum of 148 ounces of water and
allows the operator to simply monitor differential pressure to determine
when the PaksŪ need to be changed. The ZetaDri-PakŪ is available
in all grades of ErtelAlsop media and can be utilized in various
applications where water is a problem. From flavorings to oils,
the ZetaDri-PakŪ will provide the retention level your application
requires.

Disc-Pak®
The Disc-PakŪ cartridge is specially formulated for the precise filtration of liquids in the light to medium viscosity range. From applications such as lubricating oils, dielectric oils and coolants to syrups, beverages and perfumes, the Disc-PakŪ may be used where particulate retention is the purpose of filtration. Disc-PakŪ cartridges are available in several grades to allow retention down to 1 micron.

Bio-Pak®
The
new Bio-PakŪ is ErtelAlsop's double-O-Ring lenticular depth filter
cartridge. This filter element is for use in critical applications,
providing the utmost assurance that no bypass will occur at cartridge
sealing surfaces. It is the first US manufactured lenticular filter
cartridge of its kind.

AquaKv-Pak®
The AquaKv-Pak® was specifically designed and developed for
the retention of water contamination in transformer and turbine
lube oils along with the retention of particulate down to the sub-micronic
level. This Pak® concept was created to incorporate the particulate
retention capabilities of the Disc-Pak® along with the enhanced
capacity for the retention of free and dissolved water. The AquaKv-Pak®
demonstrates mechanical shutoff when fully saturated with water.
Particle retention does not effect water-holding capacity, which
has been documented at up to 120 ounces per full 9-cell Pak®.
The AquaKv-Pak® and an ErtelAlsop enclosed Pak® system can
recondition dielectric fluids to meet or exceed ASTM and manufacturers
standards.

Sak-Pak®
The Sak-PakŪ is a Fullers Earth or Activated Carbon containing filter element developed by ErtelAlsop as a clean, cost-effective, simple
alternative to the traditional means of cake filtration. The Sak-PakŪ,
when used in an ErtelAlsop PakŪ housing, provides a portable enclosed
environment. Sak-PaksŪ are most effective when used after a filtration
run through an ErtelAlsop Disc-PakŪ or AquaKv-PakŪ. The ideal filter
system would flow from the supply tank through a Disc-PakŪ/AquaKv-PakŪ
into a second supply tank and back through the Sak-PakŪ. Final filtration
should be done through another Disc-PakŪ/AquaKv-PakŪ to remove any
stray Fullers Earth or Activated Carbon and ensure containment of
particulate matter. The
Fullers Earth Sak-PakŪ is used in applications where neutralization
of oil is the desired goal. An Activated Carbon Sak-PakŪ is used
when decolorization and/or deodorization are necessary.
